Dr. Megan O’Toole

Meet Dr. O'Toole

Dr. Megan O’Toole was born in St. Louis, Missouri and is a cum laude graduate of Saint Louis University. She obtained her Medical Degree at Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences. She continued her clinical training as a general surgery resident at Franciscian St. James Hospital in Chicago Illinois, where she was given the opportunity to learn at multiple Academic centers such as Lurie Children’s hospital and John C. Stroger- Cook County Hospital. This is where Dr. O’Toole took a major interest in reconstructive surgery, specifically for breast cancer patients. She continued her surgical training as a Fellow in Plastic and Reconstructive surgery at Saint Barnabas Hospital in Bronx, New York.

Dr. O’Toole has continued her education after fellowship focusing on Burn and Oncologic reconstruction. She is passionate about patient integrity and care and strives to have well informed patients. Her goal for every patient is to restore their confidence both physically and emotionally so that they can feel comfortable in their own skin once more.

In addition to her surgical practice, she is engaged in clinical research to advance and improve her field. She has collaborated on numerous projects with various centers including Chicago’s John C Stroger-Cook County Hospital, the United States Army, Institute of Surgical Research, and the METIS foundation with a focus on wound healing, traumatic injuries, and tissue Reconstruction.

Dr. O’Toole is a member of the American College of Osteopathic Surgeons and is board certified in General Surgery. Dr. O’Toole joined her husband in San Antonio, where he is an active duty Trauma Surgeon in the United States Air Force. They welcomed their first child in 2019 and when they can, they enjoy the outdoors and traveling. Dr. O’Toole is a proud member of the STARS Plastic Surgery Group.
